- The Canon 400D is an okay camera for astrophotography. Not great, but okat. It is the camera that I started with, The really good astrophotography cameras started with the next model, the 450D. The primary differences include a low noise chip, a 14 bit ADC, and live view/movie mode. That said, for the right price the 400D is a good place to start.
