- Probably the reason this was not invented/marketed sooner has to do with the way glass is formed in molds. I say marketed because these types of containers do exist, they are just not used for food. To continue, glass is formed by filling hot, softened glass with air like a balloon and letting it cool in the mold to hold it's shape.
