- The absolute safest bet for wedding photography is a set of 2-3 fast zooms and 1-2 fast primes. For example a 70-200 plus a 24-70 and/or a 16-35 zoom, and a 35mm, 50mm or 85mm prime thrown in for creative shooting and low-light. That right there is many wedding photographers’ go-to setup.

- For very small weddings and elopements (like a sunrise elopement I shot this morning) I sometimes only shoot primes... 35, 50, and 85. For your more standard wedding I usually shoot two primes for getting ready and bride/groom photos, and then a 70-200mm on one and a prime (35 or 50) on the other for the ceremony and reception.

Why I Switched to only Shooting with Prime Lenses
- https://photographyhero.com/switched-shooting-prime-lenses/
- 1) Prime Lenses Give you the Ability to Reach Low F-Stops. Because there is only one focal length, a quality prime lens can be built to achieve very low f-stops. This ability has multiple benefits, as you know from learning about aperture. The first, is, of course, the fact that you achieve a very shallow depth of field in your images.
