- I agree on everything said so far. The 283's are old now & were known for high voltage, so take the advice & check them out before using on a D70. I used the 285's a lot for weddings and for supplimenting occasionally the studio strobes. Wonderful, troouble free flashes. One of my 285's tested 9 volts, the other 6 volts. Good luck, Fred
