    Actually, all foam core is acid free, but the paper surface may or may not be. I buy boring new frames, and specify the "rabbet" (the cutout that the window and art work fit in to be at least 1/8" deeper than the sum of thicknesses of glazing, mat, print and backerboard. The extra thickness allows room for retaining clips. -- JerryG
