- The U505 was captured in 1944 off the West coast of Africa. In 1954 it was brought to Chicago and put on display at the Museum of Science and Industry. I toured it as a young boy probably around 1960. It is currently in the process of being moved from it's outdoors display due to deterioration from 50 years of Chicago weather.
