- Takahashi TSA-102 for Astrophotography - posted in Refractors : Ive heard nothing but rave reviews for the TSA-102 refractor as a visual telescope, and the takahashi website says that, with a flattener or reducer, it can be used for imaging, but I wanted to ask anyone here with experience using a TSA-102, how does it measure up as an imaging …

Takahashi TSA-102 Review - Scope Views

- The TSA-102’s lens is an air-spaced triplet made in Japan by Canon/Optron. The quality of both the cell and the glass is of the very highest, but the design is quite conventional, unlike the larger 130 and 150 tak’ APOs which use a very large air gap and twin ED elements to allow even further control of aberrations.

- The TSA-102 is too long and heavy a telescope to use on the EM-11 for long, unattended astrophotography series. Autoguiding tracking is stable for a small number of sequential exposures, but becomes unstable and erratic over 15 to 20 minutes. The system is highly susceptible to tracking disruption due to light wind.

- When used for astrophotography with a TOA-35 flattener and Canon APS-C sensor camera (e.g., EOS-40D or EOS-7D), the TSA-102 /TOA-35 flattener gives better round star performance out to the edge of the field than the FS-102 / TOA-35 combination. New to me TSA 102 - Discussions - Stargazers Lounge

- My TSA is my best corrected and sharpest scope, although I enjoy the increased aperture of the TEC which now gets the most use. The 102 also makes a cracking solar scope (both white light) as well as Ha viewing (and imaging) with a Quark. And like Jeremy, I also recommend the BBHS diagonal... or the TV Everbright - use both.

- Members 8,559 6,788 Posted March 11, 2020 If my TSA 120 is any indication the TSA 102 should be excellent. The 120mm takes seemingly endless mag and razor sharp. joe aguiar Members 232 720 Location: toronto canada Posted March 11, 2020 Cant say I compared both but My TSA 102s is amazing. I'm sure the fs is also top performer
