To start, TLR stands for twin lens reflex. “Twin” because there are two lenses. And reflex means that the photographer looks through the lens to view the reflected image of an object or scene on the focusing screen. Photographers also look through SLRs, or single lens reflex cameras.

Are TLR Camera's worth it? | Learn Film Photography

    https://www.learnfilm.photography/are-tlr-cameras-worth-it/
TLR cameras are one of the slower cameras to use. The first challenge is that viewfinder is mirrored, meaning the world moves the wrong way when you change your composition. That means when you want to compose the image for a subject in the right side of the frame, you have to move left.

Using A TLR Camera Is Oddly Satisfying | Light Stalking

    https://www.lightstalking.com/using-tlr-camera-oddly-satisfying/
TLR cameras are slightly similar to the more famous SLR or DSLR cameras that have been around for quite a while. These cameras were designed to work with a single, large, non-moving mirror that reflected light straight up after passing through the camera’s lens – even though these little fellas have not one, but two, lenses attached to them.

Flash for TLR | Photrio.com Photography Forums

The flash should sync at all shutter speeds, since TLRs use leaf shutters. I've used TLR with study flash before (same deal as compact flashes, really) with no problems at all. Just make sure that your camera does indeed have a flash sync, and that the pc connector (where the sync cord plugs in) is clean. Eric Rose Subscriber Joined Nov 21, 2002

Using Flash with TLR | Amateur Photographer

When using flash as your main light source indoors as you were with your 283 I tend to use the lower shutter speeds of 1/60 or 1/125 as opposed to the higher 1/250 or 1/500 which a leaf shutter is capable of using. My reasoning behind this is that the lower speeds will still allow handholding with care but allow a certain amount of "ambient ...

Although you can attach your Rollei TLR directly to the base of the bracket, I would strongly advise you to use the Rolleifix quick release plate so that its more secure and would not put any stress on the weak points of the camera. The Rolleifix also allows you to detach/attach your camera quickly for film change.

Like the metz flashes they had large flash packs holding accumulators. And a cord to the long handled flash head. Though you could also buy flash brackets that gave space for focussing and had a square base to fit a TLR. I most likely still have one somewhere hidden away. That camera looks about 1955 To 1956.
