- The SV-102ED is an F7 doublet based on FK-51 ED glass. For photography one wants a triplet I think. That's the bad news. The good news is that one doesn't need a 102mm scope to take good astrophotos and in your price range there some very good 80mm scopes to choose from. I have not used the Stellarvue SV102 ED but I did buy the Astro Tech 102mm f7 ED refractor about 2 weeks ago from SCS Astro. The quality of the scope is excellent and using Hyperion eyepieces the views of Mercury, Saturn and the Moon were very good without any CA.
