What I am saying is that in studio flash photography, the shutter speed doesn’t matter all that much within a certain range, usually around 1/30th of a second to 1/200th of a second. That’s around a 3-stop range.

Why Shutter Speed Does not Matter in High Speed Flash …

    https://www.miops.com/blogs/news/why-shutter-speed-isnt-important-in-high-speed-flash-photography
In flash photography, we can't go above 1/250 seconds shutter speed because it exceeds the maximum flash sync speed of your camera. However, on the slower side, whether our shutter speed is 1/250 or 1/60 or 1/10, the photo will come out the same because our aperture is narrow, so ambient light doesn't make any difference.

The Relationship Between Shutter Speed & Flash Is Critical

Aperture controls flash, shutter speed controls ambient…this is a good mantra to have when trying to understand and control flash. Some photographers don’t understand the relationship between flash and aperture. A lead photographer, who I was second for, would burn through batteries in their flash cause the were shooting at f/8 at 1/4000 of ...

Why Is My Shutter Speed Limited When I Use Flash?

    https://cameragroove.com/limited-shutter-speed-when-using-flash/
A camera’s flash sync speed determines the fastest shutter speed it can use. Built-in flashes have a 1/200 to 1/250 second maximum synchronization range. Can I Use High-Speed Sync With the Camera’s Built-in Flash?

1/250th second sync – EPSN2059lr by Lars Plougmann. A narrow slit travelling across the image medium essentially means you cannot expose the whole image at one go. When the flash is fired (at higher speeds) only a part of the image is exposed (the part that was open when the flash was fired).

Why does light meter affect shutter speed on flash …

    https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/66245336
As I understand it, the shutter speed is not part of the flash exposure triangle (i.e. ISO, aperture, flash power), yet the incident meter guides talk about taking a reading and then adjusting the aperture to your requirements which then adjusts the shutter speed. But why would you adjust the shutter speed (leaving out ambient considerations ...

Why does light meter affect shutter speed on flash …

You should be shooting in manual mode. If you don't care about ambient, then set your shutter speed to the sync speed for your camera. If you do care about ambient, then set your shutter speed to get the ambient exposure you want (as long as it is below sync speed). In studio, usually I set shutter speed to sync speed.
