- S5 is an outstanding astrophotography camera 20 hours ago 8 I went out to test S5 for astrophotography and I can assure it is an excellent piece of equipment for the task. I have been using Sony A7r in the past but with S5 straight out of the camera is good enough, I am posting two photos from today vigna's gear list:

- Higher top ISO sensitivity (1600 vs 800) Increased movie clip limit (was 1.0 GB, now 4.0 GB) Couple of new features (including red-eye removal, face detection AF) Reduced continuous shooting (burst) speed. Slightly heavier. Move your mouse over the image below to see the design changes, which are fairly subtle. Canon Powershot S5is.

Anyone have info on Canon 5D For Astrophotography

- I have both an unmodified Canon 20D and a Hutech modified Canon 5D (Canon 5DH). The 5D inherently has twice the signal to noise of the 20D. The 5DH's low light capability is better than the 20D. Even at an ISO of 1600 for normal terrestial use the noise is barely detectable. I am mainly interested in doing wide fields so the full frame is a must.
