- The Canon 1100D has a perfect size that makes it go unnoticed and perfect for storing in any bag. Battery life: It has a clearly longer battery life than SLR cameras of the same division. The Canon 1100D can withstand about 800 shots on average when others like the Nikon D3200 (a magnificent camera that I am in love with) barely reach 540 shots.

- You can capture long-exposure photos of deep sky nebulas by configuring the Canon 1100d at an exposure length ranging from 15 to 30 seconds. Decreasing the aperture to F2.8 or F4 will also allow the camera to perform better in low-lights by slowly closing the shutter to increase the amount of incoming light.

- In reply to minnouxx • Sep 1, 2011. I've three DSLRs and your EOS 1100D is newer than all of them. It's a perfectly good camera and until you find something it can't do you don't need another camera. Or, more likely, you'll find you need different lens (es), a tripod, flash (es), etc., etc.. - Thanks everyone for responding. It seems that a lot of people ate using the 1000d and the 1100d. I looked around for 1100d cameras and this one supposedly is like new with all the documentation etc. I went ahead and bought it for $250 dollars. I plan on using this camera exclusively for astrophotography so plan to do the modification.
