- Don't go slower then you really need to. Panning someone walking requires different time, then panning someone going at 60+km/h. For cycling you can easily get away with times around 1/100 if positioned well. Another thing to consider is to use your 17-50 lens instead of 70-200. I shoot quit lot of pro cycling and I regulary use 17-40.
