- The 7D isn't great at low light but it's not teeeeerrrrible. Certainly not as bad at ISO 800. I would say it tops out at ISO 1600 and possibly 3200 on good conditions. It could be that you have a very low noise tolerance. Additionally try shooting at longer shutter speeds, 1/30 and slower.

- Assuming that it will be a kind of a disco dance party-like party and that I don't want to use my flash and that I'd like to catch, or better need to use, the low ambiance light, what might be the best setting on my 7D. I guess I will end up into ISO1600 or even 3200 but using it in some low daylight situations I think to output is a bit grainy.

- Blurry is because shutter speed is too low. You'll need to open up your aperture or increase ISO (sensor sensitivity). If you don't have one already, you'll probably want a lens f/2.8 or faster. For zoom lenses, look for constant f/2.8, such as Tamron 17-50/2.8 or (if budget is willing), Canon 17-55/2.8.
