- Rather than being a Lightroom-Classic version problem, it is more likely to be an intermittant hardware failure- like a hard-drive starting to fail- which might explain how Lr can 'read' the file at times and not others. Or even a sector on the hard-drive failing.

- Nov 3, 2020. #2. Hi. Okay, so the difference looking at a photo in Finder and in Lightroom is that Finder only looks at the small preview built into the file, but Lightroom opens the actual file. While you could go back to 9.4 (rollback) its unlikely that this will solve anything (unless you're sure it was fine in 9.4)

- Please remove any sequence from Lightroom that shows the black exclamation marks then load it into LRTimelapse 5.5.5 and force saving via Shift+Save. Then Drag to Lightroom to reimport it. Then Drag to Lightroom to reimport it.
