- Tokyo-based architect Toyo Ito (b. 1941) studied at The University of Tokyo in the early 1960s. At the time Kenzo Tange held his professorship there and Ito then interacted with Arata Isozaki, Kisho Kurokawa, and Kiyonori Kikutake, the founder of Metabolist movement. Following his graduation in 1965, Ito worked for four years for Kikutake.
