Is a photography degree worth it? - Reddit

This is great, but I would argue that a full degree is relatively worthless for fields like photography. Instead, I would suggest getting a degree in something that could be applicable to both a photography career and a back-up plan. Maybe that's focusing on business or marketing - or if you want to stay creative, graphic design. Up to you.

The degree itself is not worth anything to a photographer. You will not get clients based on it, or be barred from photography if you don't have one (like doctors or lawyers). The process of getting a degree however can be quite valuable. It can help some people to focus on goals and learn quicker than you would on their own.

I tend to be a bit of an academic, so it was important for me to gain knowledge directly from a pro rather than learn myself, I can always do that. Business degrees are important, often just as, but not always more so. It does depend on what you want to do.
