    Of course you can trace your own reference picture. You made it/photographed it, so use it as a tool in whichever way is most helpful to you. Tracing isn't a bad thing when used as a tool to help you learn, it's only deemed as inappropriate when trying to pass off the traced work of another artist as your own.
