18 is long enough to give me just a touch of a bold look when doing exteriors, but of course something in the area of 35 mm would be ideal when you want to do those far away exterior shots giving that hero look. Heck, i've been known to go a few thousand feet away and shoot a house at 150mm!

You just have to find a balance of showing everything you want in the room but being careful of the distortion the shorter FLs create. A wide Tokina zoom or the Nikon 18-35mm will be fine for what you need, especially just starting out. You won't need to shoot that wide all the time, but at least you have the option for when you do.

Is 20mm wide enough for real estate? - Digital …

It would supplement a 24-70GM - but I jut can't justify buying top shelf native glass (16-35 2.8 or even the f4 ) My concern is that 20 might not be a big enough difference from 24 - But I also have concerns about wider than 20 as I have no desire to create fisheye kinds of images - I would rather stitch multiple shots together.

Is 14mm wide enough for interior/real estate work?

    https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4241234
Most of the responses in this thread are from outsiders to real estate / real estate photography. 14mm on full frame is perfect. I do most of my interior shooting with the Tamron 15-30mm on a full frame Canon @ 15mm and this is exactly what agents expect and desire.

is 28mm wide enough for indoor real estate …

    https://www.reddit.com/r/photography/comments/4oghnd/is_28mm_wide_enough_for_indoor_real_estate/
No. 24mm on full frame is the longest I use, and I use a 15mm on smaller rooms. You need 16mm on full frame. I shoot real estate with a 10-16 on a crop body. In smaller houses, 16 (24mm FF) just gets way too tight. 28 will be rough unless the place is really big.
