You could try the light tent with the camera and you taking the photo in a darker room so the center of the items will be dark and the sides light. - If you have a flash you can aim, bounce it off the ceiling if you don't want to mess with the tripod and self timer. Otherwise, if it's point-and-shoot, light the whole room well, or put some spotlights/drop cords aimed at the chrome, and turn the flash off.
