- Mike, I vaguely remember, from an SLR camera magazine article in the 1970s (-ish), that a portrait sitting with some Cartes-de-Visite (or should that be cartes-de-visites?) in the mid-ish Victorian era cost the ordinary bloke about 6d (2.5p). Also seem to remember that was about half a week's wages for many people.
