Question on optimal image size/quality for hi-res …

- They are about 2mb each right now. Obviously, being a photography portfolio the quality is important, and it's good to see them large and hi-res as a visitor, but that comes at a cost. I've searched and found an assortment of answers. Obviously 2mb is way too high, considering I have about 10 photos on each page.

- 24 x 18in @ 240ppi is way too big for a website, so the photo will get reduced in size for the site, which can cause less sharpness. Images on your site are 1200px wide; try exporting to that (@ 72ppi). So 1200px width, leave height blank, at 72ppi.

- Around 1000 to 2000px wide is usually good, but it depends on your web design. Make sure the photos look good on large displays (24" or so) and also on laptops, tablets, and phones. Also, I would recommend doing a jpg compression test, to see how small you can get your files without showing noticeable quality degradation.

- I could tell you that a good number of pictures for a wedding photographer might be around 50 - 80 in a single gallery. However, if you don't have 50 high-quality pictures that you can use to tell a story, or you have only 1-2 wedding shoots in your portfolio - I wouldn't recommend even going near 50 shots. My expertise lays in building websites.

- If you are showing the portfolio in person, or even mailing the portfolio to the reviewer ALWAYS send high quality prints on high quality paper. Prints should be large enough that they have an immediate visual impact, but small enough that they are easily handled. Usually 8x10 to 11x14. Do not send or show 4x6 images you printed off your printer.

- /r/photography is a place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography. This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

- Hi Use some image optimization software to improve the quality of the image and reduce the size of an image, also need super fast hosting services as well. I'm always aiming for images to be under 100kb. There are quite a lot of apps/websites that are able to compress your images without losing too much of the quality.

- Stick to A3, bigger will be a hassle to carry around. Also A3 is a good size to print sheets out easily. Make sure your portfolio explains itself.
Image size on photo portfolio website? - Digital …

- If you want to use some nice galery and the image should be visible at one piece without scrolling, 1200x800 is very usable. For full screen image one usually needs to scroll from one side to another, which I consider very uncomfortable and not professional. That way You can easily fit this image into around one megabite large file.
What is the optimal size for photos in a digital portfolio?

- A minimum of 900px on the wide side but up to 1400px would not me unreasonable. In that case you will probably want to place an intrusive watermark over the center/subject of the image or content yourself if an open licence which, sadly, will probably not be respected anyway.
