You can get a better final image by using the smallest possible EV steps. 2 EV steps are very often to large to wind up with a quality HDR.

    I purchased a Nikon D3100 a few months back, and I've really caught the photography bug! Something I'd like to experiment with is HDR photography, but I was disappointed to read that the D3100 doesn't support 'exposure bracketing' so I'd have to manually take multiple shots with different exposures (if i've understood it correctly).

    On the D3100 you push the ev button and turn the command dial to set the f/stop. Then using the analog meter in the view finder set the speed by turning the command dial until the exposure is set to normal, take a shot, then turn the command dial until you are over exposed one stop, take the shot.
