It is far sturdier than the stock ETX70 tripod. In fact the original looks really cheap by comparison. The new tripod is constructed much like the one that came with our LX200 (although obviously smaller). Once the clouds clear up I will test it out and hopefully have an image or two to show for it. #35 seeker372011 Apollo topic starter

The manual that accompanies the Meade ETX 70 says something to the effect "this telescope is not suitable for long exposure photography" well some time ago, I said to myself: they only make the scope, what would they know, and set myself the target of imaging 100 (mainly deep space) objects with the ETX 70 and an Atik 1C I am about half way there so I have collected my …

Meade ETX-70 - Astromart

For a grand total of under $250 (including the purchase of the case) I feel the ETX-70 is a great deal for either the beginner or the established astronomer who just wants a small scope to run outside with for a quick view. As long as the buyer isn't expecting to see objects like they would with a large aperture scope, I rate the ETX-70 as an 8/10

MEAD ETX 70 ANY GOOD?? - Stargazers Lounge

Thought it was that one, what you need to consider is the Focal lengths, the Newtonian is an F5, where as the ETX90 is F13.8, and the Skymax is F11.8, the latter 2 are good for planetary viewing/imaging, the Newtonian is better for deep sky viewing/imaging, you can however use a x2 or x3 barlow to view/image the planets, with regards to optic's, it's a trade of …

Meade ETX-70AT as a lens for lunar photography

    https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/382886
Meade ETX-70AT as a lens for lunar photography Dec 18, 2002 While shopping last night I stopped at a camera store and saw a Meade telescope for around $300. I think it was the ETX 70-AT. The box said you could get an adapter for a 35mm camera and I wonder if anyone here has ever tried that.

Meade ETX 70 AT | Pollini Photo Laboratory

Great entry-level telescope for those wanting to grapple with astrophotography. The Meade ETX 70 AT does his duty and does so with excellent results. At first glance it may seem small and not very reliable, it is not.

The Meade ETX 70 AT.

The ETX 70 AT is not as loud as the LX200 scopes - but you can tell that they come from the same family. Once the slewing stopped and the scope “beeped” me to indicate it was finished I peaked into the eyepiece. M42 was almost dead center. Even with the bright moon I could see a lot of nebulosity.
