- Hey, I have a slight query concerning astrophotography. I use an EQ5 pro synscan with a SW 200p (and a Nikon d3100 for photography). I follow the procedure of levelling the mount, accurate polar alignment, balancing the telescope, home position and three star alignment. I think I get these pretty exact - selecting objects with the hand ...

- A Sky-Watcher HEQ5 Pro SynScan Computerized Mount with a William Optics Z73 riding on top. In the world of astrophotography, it is best to keep the total overall of your imaging gear well below the maximum payload capacity of your telescope mount. For example, on the HEQ5, I wouldn’t recommend mounting more than 20-lbs of imaging gear on top.
Skywatcher EQ6 R PRO, is this a good mount? - AstroBin

- Hi Bradley, I started my astrophotography journey in 2016 with the same Synscan EQ5 Pro mount. My typical guided TRMS was similar to yours, or even worse, and it required a lot of babysitting. 5 minute narrowband subs were doable but very inconsistent, and I had to throw away a lot of subs due to jumps in DEC or elongated stars.
