- First, set your aperture to f/1.4. Next, use a 50mm lens and set your manual exposure to 1/500 sec. You can play around with your ISO, although I recommend you keep it between 1,600-2,000. - With the 7D it is possible to set exposure compensation a full 3 stops on either side of 0, which is 1 stop more than could be done with either the 5Dmk2 or the 50D. That is quite a useful feature, and saves me having to go to Manual mode when working on extreme ends of exposure settings.
Pleased with 70D wildlife shooting at higher ISO settings: …

- Under morning light I have always had to balance getting the ISO setting high enough to get a sufficiently fast shutter speed. With the 50D I was typically keeping the ISO setting down to around 800-1000. But with the 70D and a more flexible auto-ISO capability, I just let the camera decide while keeping the shutter speed at 1/500 of second.
