Why can't DSLR cameras use ISO 25 like used for this photo? My older Pentax K-5 shoots ISO 80 very nicely, the Nikon D7200 -100 ISO min., and the Nikon D810 min. is ISO 60. My friend's IPhone in Lunenburg, N.S. EXIF info shows ISO 25 for this shot. Is it the low ISO used in iPhones what makes their photos so great?

What is ISO in photography & why is it important? | Adobe

ISO is one of the three pillars of the photography exposure triangle, along with shutter speed and aperture, that you can adjust when capturing a photo. ISO controls the amount of light that your camera lets in and has a huge impact on the darkness or light in your photos — something you might adjust for technical or artistic reasons.

Like black and white film (read our guide: What you need to know about B&W film), color film relies on light-sensitive silver halide crystals, but instead of a single layer of emulsion, color film has three, each sensitive to a different color of light (generally, blue, green and red). The emulsion layers include chemicals called dye couplers. Do I have to shoot a whole film roll on the same ISO?

    https://photo.stackexchange.com/questions/125517/do-i-have-to-shoot-a-whole-film-roll-on-the-same-iso
The ISO of a film roll indicates how sensitive that whole film roll is to light. That's a chemical property of the film roll, which you cannot change shot by shot. The ISO "setting" on your camera does not actually set the ISO of your film, as that is physically impossible. It does tell (the light meter of) the camera what the sensitivity is of ...

Yes, you can relate ISO Paper speed to ISO Film speed. You expose a series of paper negatives until one is properly exposed and one that will scan properly to form a good reversal image. At that point, you have the ISO. Then you compare that ISO (In-camera) to the paper ISO and begin constructing a conversion table.
