    https://frankmyrland.com/best-lens-for-ice-hockey-photography/
Prime lenses take in more light and have great quality, but they don’t zoom so they aren’t overly ideal for photographing hockey. Zoom lenses with low apertures like the 70-200 2.8 are usually the go-to lenses for hockey, …

    https://icebergshots.com/what-is-the-best-lens-for-hockey-photography/
A popular location to shoot an ice hockey game is near a rink corner. From this location, a 70-200mm (or similar) lens allows you to cover from your end of the rink to the first blue line (almost half a rink). That makes 70-200mm a very popular and versatile focal length range for ice hockey photography.

I have a Nikon D5200. It came as a kit with two lenses. One is the regular lens and the other is a telephoto zoom lens. The zoom says Nikon DX Nikkor AF-S 55-200mm1:4-5.6 G ED. The person at Best Buy said it was perfect for hockey but my shots are all blurry. I use the camera in the fully automatic mode.

Best Lens for hockey -- Sports in photography-on-the.net forums

I've shot hockey games with my 70-300 IS non-L before and it worked well, though I was at 300mm most of the time. To deal with the low light I underexposed and "pushed" the raw exposures in photoshop. I'd recommend the Sigma 100-300 f/4 before either of those lenses, just to be able to get f/4 at 300mm.

Shooting hockey is just not going to be possible right now without a DSLR camera. Really just about any one will do but the more recent the better. A 70-200 mm zoom lens or similar is a must as well. I shoot with the new mirrorless Nikon Z6 II and use a …
