Cassegrain Vs Newtonian- Which One To Choose?
- The Cassegrain telescopes are best suited for viewing objects within the solar system. This includes the planets and the moons of the solar system. The Newtonian telescopes, on the other hand, are more capable of showing you deep-sky objects. Weight. The Newtonian telescopes tend to contain less glass as compared to the Cassegrain telescopes.
Cassegrain v/s Newtonian - Stargazers Lounge
- https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/31471-cassegrain-vs-newtonian/
- Imaging wise, the Newtonian is probably easier to get on with at first as the focal lengths are usually shorter than a Cassegrain so star trailing is less noticeable. The Cassegrain type will be more compact, for the same aperture, but the Newt. is likely to be slightly lighter as there is less glass in the Newt.

Maksutov-Cassegrain vs Newtonian Telescopes. Which One Is Best?
- Newtonians are better for viewing deep space objects. Maksutov-Cassegrains are better for observing planets and the Moon. Newtonians are better backyard telescopes. Maksutovs are better travel telescopes. Newtonians have more variety in sizes, brands, and prices. Maksutovs are more versatile and require less maintenance.

- Maksutov Newtonian vs Maksutov Cassegrain. Don’t get mistaken. The Maksutov Newtonian is not Maksutov Cassegrain. What they share is only the Correcting lens and mirrors, but the design is completely different. ... but if you want a top quality ED Apochromatic refractor for astrophotography, the Maksutov Newtonian is much cheaper for a given ...

Maksutov-Newtonian (MN) telescopes like the Sky-Watcher MN 190/1000 have a hybrid design resulting in a Newtonian telescope with a corrector plate as used in Maks and are very …
Re: [APML]: Newtonian or Schmidt-Cassegrain for astrophotos?
- A mount which is barely adequate to carry a 4" - 5" refractor or 6" Newtonian will adequately carry an 8" SCT; a mount which will carry a 6" refractor or 8" Newtonian will carry an 11" SCT. In terms of the size of scope, since you seem to be leaning toward an SCT I would recommend against anything larger than an 8" or 9.25" SCT.
