Meade 10" Schmidt-Newtonian any good for astrophotography?

Meade 10" Schmidt-Newtonian any good for astrophotography? - posted in Beginning Deep Sky Imaging: Found what I think to be a pretty good deal on a Meade LXD 75 10 setup, including a scope buggy. Ive been interested in a Schmidt-Newtonian for a while, and Ive got aperture fever, so I was thinking of picking this guy up. Obviously the mount isnt well-suited …

Springtime Galaxies imaged with a Schmidt-Newtonian

For astrophotography use, a coma corrector such as the ‘Baader MPCC Multi Purpose Coma Corrector Mark III’ from Rother Valley Optics at ~£129 or, at significantly higher cost, the four element ‘TS-Optics NEWTON Coma Corrector 1.0x GPU Superflat’ will be required. So a first class f/4 ‘astrograph’ could be obtained for around £600.

Newtonian for astrophotography - Stargazers Lounge

    https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/169234-newtonian-for-astrophotography/
A fast Newtonian telescope can be very good for Astrophotography but generally takes a great deal of effort to get it prepared and working properly. It is not an 'out of the box' option. If you have the time and skill to whip it into shape then it could be good but if you want good results with less effort then a short fast ED80 refractor would be my choice for a first …

8 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain vs 10 inch Newtonian

The SCT is better for planets than the Newtonian, and is easier to collimate, and to keep collimated. The SCT is more sensitive to surrounding ambient light, and needs a flat black tube extension. The SCT needs a guidescope because it's optical train, with a focal reducer, is not practically supported using an off-axis guider.

Maksutov Newtonian Review: The Ultimate Astrograph?

    https://telescopeguides.com/maksutov-newtonian-the-ultimate-astrograph/
Astrophotography. The Maksutov Newtonian is primarily made for astrophotography. It’s the field where it excels. Although you can also use it for visual astronomy, you just need to use an extender with the eyepiece to reach the focus. The extender usually comes with the telescope, so you don’t have to buy it separately.

Re: [APML]: Newtonian or Schmidt-Cassegrain for astrophotos?

astrophotography. Some of the best astrophotography done is done with Newtonians. The problem of coma is a bit of a red herring: While it's true that fast Newtonians do exhibit significant comatic aberration, it is easily fixed with a commonly available corrector lens such as the TeleVue ParaCorr. Having to

Dug my brother-in-law's telescope out of his attic, and tried to give it a go. As you can see, we had a lot of "fun" in the process. For a much better review...

Newtonian Telescope vs Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope

    https://telescopes4kids.com/newtonian-telescope-vs-schmidt-cassegrain-telescope/
The Newtonian telescopes still remain best for anyone who is looking to get into the hobby of stargazing and deep space photography, even though they are a little bit harder to maintain. The design of the Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes makes them be a bit more expensive than their Newtonian counterpart, while not allowing them to reach a big size.

SCHMIDT CASSEGRAIN — AMATEUR ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY

The Schmidt CAT is Usually on the Cutting Edge of Technology. When some new innovation is developed, it’s usually developed for SCTs first. When goto came to commercial amateur scopes, it came in the form of the Celestron Compustar and Meade LX200 SCTs first. If you want the latest and the greatest—like Meade’s Starlock System, which ...
