3 Reasons a 28mm Lens Is My Favourite Focal Length

It’s Easy To Focus One other reason that a 28mm lens works so well for street photography is that it’s easy to focus. This isn’t a focal length that provides much in the way of background blur, so shooting it wide open isn’t advantageous in most scenarios. I can simply set my aperture to f/8 and shoot away, knowing that everything will be in focus.

How to Shoot Street Photography with a 28mm Lens

A practical piece of advice — if you want to shoot street photography on a 28mm lens, don’t buy expensive 28mm lenses that shoot at f/1.4, f/1.8, or f/2. These “fast” 28mm lenses tend to be too big and too heavy. The same goes with any lens for street photography. F/2.8 is more than enough for any street photography lens.

Neither the 24mm f/2.5 nor the 28mm f/2.5 will disappoint. The 24mm lens uses a 55mm filter/hood, the 28mm takes 49mm accessories. Neither lens has a rotating front element. Minimum focus on both lenses is 10", though that probably doesn't interest a …

Watch on. At 16mm at its widest, the Sigma 16-28mm f/2.8 is noticeably wider than most standard wide lenses. With the limited zoom, it means that you’ll have to stay close to your subject and the scenes will be filled with detail. The lens clocks in at $899 and is very lightweight, making it the perfect budget on-the-go lens.
