- Posted June 9, 2012. I tried a 1.25" Orion Skyglow (which is a broadband filter) for a while but I found it's effects very slight at best. I then moved on to narrowband in the form of a Baader UHC-S and thence to an Orion Ultrablock which was better still - a very effective filter and not too expensive. My Ultrablock was a 2".

- The visual version of the filter (they call it the Broadband Skyglow) has 2 band pass areas in the spectrum, one around the OIII and Hb peaks, and the other up around Ha. The Ha band trails off into the near infra red, letting some of that pass through, but since we can't see that, it doesn't matter.
